Enrollment in Tutor Charlotte Inc. Program II Intensive Online Tutoring

Tutor Charlotte Program II Deep Mathematics and Geometry, and English Grammar with Reading Comprehension and Composition for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Graders. Intensive Online Tutoring Available 5 Days a Week for $170.00 Per Month! The high school student gets 24 hours to 26 hours of academic instruction per month in our online classrooms 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST Monday through Thursday with 4 thirty minute 1 on 1 online tutoring sessions per week following the North Carolina Curriculum Guide for mathematics, Geometry, and English grammar.

  • New students must complete the application above. New students are on a 30 day probationary period. New students who do not fulfill the requirements of Tutor Charlotte Inc. will be dropped from subsidized academic tutoring on the 31st day.

  • Current students are required to submit a new application at the beginning of every semester. Current students will be evaluated every 90 days as to whether the student is effectively utilizing the Tutor Charlotte Programs, effectively attending tutoring sessions, and completing academic work designed to improve their academics.

  • The parent and or student must verbally speak with the master tutor before signing up your student in a Tutor Charlotte Program. You must verbally speak with the master tutor before changing your program to another program and making payment.

  • Failure to notify the master tutor of a change in your choice of programs will not always result in acceptance in another program and may result in a refund of your payment if it has been made.

  • Your student must have access to the internet, speakers on their computer, and a working printer to printout academic work before signing up for a Tutor Charlotte Program.

  • Tutor Charlotte has a limited number of available student slots in any given month and can not have more than 85 students enrolled in Tutor Charlotte. There are only 85 available student slots available for subsidized academic tutoring and supplemental education in this program in total throughout the year.

  • New students are accepted only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and the first tutoring session is a 60 minute 1 on 1 online tutoring session at a cost of $26.06 to be completed either on a Friday, Saturday, and or Sunday by appointment only online. The parent is required to stay online with the student for a minimum of 30 minutes online and complete all forms online.

  • New and current students in grades 6-12 must complete Geometry and Set Theory and Logic based on a set academic schedule.

    • In addition, Dr. Kevin L. Powell will enhance the student’s mathematics skills by re-teaching all concepts of mathematics regardless of grade level.

  • Prentice Hall Earth Science (High School and 8th Graders)-Student completes assessments questions at the end of each chapter. One chapter is due per week based on what the student is doing in class.

  • General Science for 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders.-Student completes assessments questions at the end of each chapter. One chapter is due per week based on what the student is doing in class.

Program II Intensive 1 on 1 Tutoring Description: What you are paying for?

  • The student receives the following:

    1. One 1 on 1 sixty minute online tutoring session per week.

    2. Blue Classroom Group Online Tutoring 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday:

    4. Free additional 1 on 1 tutoring sessions are given based on the amount of academic work done by the student to improve their grades. Academic work is required from the student to receive the full 40 hours of online tutoring. 

  • The students receive 10 hours of in-person one on one tutoring per month. Any hours over 10 hours per month cost only $7.00 per hour. A maximum of 8 extra hours will be given at this price. Academic work is required from the student to receive all in-person tutoring.

  • The student will be assigned comprehensive practice work related to their current school work to master the skills and study habits needed to pass their next quiz, test, or exam. Parents may choose for their students to opt out of all academic work.

  • It is assumed the student will study and complete all practice work assigned by the professor in order to do well on their next quiz, test, or exam and address their individual academic issues.

  • Your student will be taught and tutored using highly recommend textbooks.

  • Your student will be tested and continuously assessed as to the material learned and covered by the master tutor and or their teacher.

  • We contact the student's teacher biweekly if necessary.

  • No contracts or obligations. You pay month-to-month and can end services anytime with no further obligations.

  • A textbook costing $17.00-$34.00 plus shipping must be purchased from Tutor Charlotte for students of mathematics and or English.

  • The student is required to purchase a textbook in the subject being tutored.

  • Access to the "Blue Classroom" where the student can acquire 14-32 hours of additional online tutoring in General Mathematics, Algebra, Geometry, English, Math I, II, and III, PreCalculus, and preparation for the SAT/ACT free of charge!

  • Up to four 3-6 hour invitations to in-person tutoring per month costing $20.00 each.

  • Access to the Tutor Charlotte website.

  • All year around continuous daily preparation for the North Carolina EOG/EOC and SAT/ACT.

  • Not required, but recommended- Special North Carolina EOC/EOG and SAT/ACT in-person 6-hour tutoring sessions every Sunday costing $13.00 to $20.00 per session for General mathematics, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Trigonometry, English Grammar and Composition, Critical Reading Skills. (Academic work is required from the student to receive the reduced price of $13.00 per session.)

  • Not required, but recommended - Test Taking Skills and Study Skills training sessions every Sunday costing $13.00 per session. There are three lessons the student must master. Grades 4-12 only.

  • Required of all students in grades 6-11- 10 Lessons in Set Theory and Logic. To improve reading comprehension, analytical reasoning, and critical thinking skills, Tutor Charlotte requires students to learn Set Theory and Logic. There are 10 lessons the student must master. The cost of each lesson is $13.00 to $20.00 per lesson. The lessons are given during in-person tutoring one lesson per month until completed and are mandatory. (Academic work is required from the student to receive the reduced price of $13.00 per session.) Grades 6-11 only.

  • Required of new students beginning June 1, 2017 in grades 4-11- $40.00 academic assessment fee will be charged for mathematics, reading comprehension, and English Grammar for new Program II, III, IV, and V students. The academic assessment takes four hours to completed and will be given before academic tutoring takes place. The parent(s) must schedule the time for the session to take place. Grades 4-11 only.

No Refunds!

  • There is absolutely no refund once academic tutoring and supplemental education has begun either online or in-person or after the parent and or student is emailed the username and password to the Tutor Charlotte website. The No Refund Policy Form must be completed, signed, and returned to the office of Tutor Charlotte by fax, email, mail, or delivered in-person before online or in-person academic tutoring will begin. In addition, the Student Informational Form and the Application for Subsidized Tutoring Form must be completed and filed with Tutor Charlotte's master tutor before academic online or in-person tutoring may begin along with the student's user name and password to PowerSchool.

Program II Details

  • A student will be assisted with their regular public and or private school homework, quizzes, tests, and exam preparation in the one subject paid for during online tutoring hours (Monday through Thursday 2:00 p.m. -10:00 p.m.) Friday 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Saturday 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Sunday 8:00 a.m. -7:00 p.m.) through internet online communications and or cell phone using the Tutor Charlotte Website and AdobeConnect. The student and or parents are responsible for making appointment requests and the duration of any tutoring appointments can be a minimum 5 minutes to a maximum of 90 minutes per session based on the sole discretion and approval of Tutor Charlotte Inc., The Michigan Administration, and its master tutor Dr. Kevin L. Powell.

  • A student will be assisted during in-person 1 on 1 tutoring with their regular public and private school homework, quiz preparation, exam preparation, and test preparation in the one subject paid for between the hours of Friday 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Saturday 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Sunday 8:00 a.m. -7:00 p.m.) by appointment only in three-hour minimum to four-hour sessions. The student and or parents are responsible for appointment requests and the duration of the appointment requests can be a minimum two hours to a maximum of four hours per session request for in-person tutoring.

  • In Programs II, III, IV, and V, the "in-person hours" DO NOT ROLLOVER TO THE NEXT payment period. You must use all the hours you paid for within the 30-day payment cycle or the hours will be lost.

  • Academic tutoring will also be defined as one or any of the following during a tutoring session or while the student is an active student in Tutor Charlotte:

    1. Academic tutoring will include interpretation of homework assignments, checking homework for accuracy, evaluating homework with the intention of offering advice to improve the quality of the required responses to the school assignment, and assistance in preparation for quizzes, tests, and exams in the selected subjected.

    2. The master tutor will design, explain, and give practice quizzes, exams, and tests to the student by publishing the practice quizzes, exams, and tests on the Tutor Charlotte www.tutorincharlotte.com website, or by sending emailed homework, practice quizzes, and practice tests to the student and or parent’s email address.

    3. The master tutor will develop homework, practice quizzes, practice exams, and practice tests that will help the student improve, understand, and acquire the knowledge necessary to master a subject or be prepared for a quiz, test, and or exam.

    4. The master tutor will assist the student in preparation for school quizzes, exams, and tests by providing relevant study guides, online personal one on one tutoring, online classroom tutoring, counseling, advice to the student, and act as an advocacy for the student with the student’s school and teacher(s).

    5. Academic tutoring will at times be given in the online classroom if necessary instead of one on one online tutoring when the subject matter or concept is universal to more than one student’s needs.

  • (Note: Each and or any of these methods constitute academic tutoring and will be selected by the master tutor based on what the student needs or requests or what is available during tutoring hours.

  • A missed online tutoring session will result in a $3.40 charge to the student's account and no online tutoring or in-person tutoring sessions will be approved until the fee is paid in full.

  • A missed in-person tutoring session will result in a $5.46 charge to the student's account and no in-person tutoring or online tutoring sessions will be approved until the fee is paid. In addition, the hours for the missed in-person tutoring session will be deducted from the student's account.

  • There will be NO CHANGES to the published schedule within 24 hours of a scheduled in-person tutoring session without a $5.46 charge to the student's account and no in-person tutoring or online tutoring will be approved until the fee is paid.

  • All students in grades 6-10 must attend at least 2 Blue Online Classrooms per week. Failure to do so will result in a $3.40 charge to the student's account and no online or in-person tutoring will be approved until the fee is paid.

Mandatory Invitation to Tutoring Policy

  • Tutor Charlotte and the master tutor, Dr. Kevin L. Powell, emphasizes academic discipline as one of the means to academic success. Academic discipline will always result in a student's grades drastically improving within 30-60 days of tutoring.

  • The master tutor will issue to your student a mandatory or optional 3 to 6-hour invitation to tutoring to be completed by the student on either a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and or Sunday when one or any of these conditions apply:

    • The student demonstrates poor behavior in school during school hours or during online or in-person academic tutoring.

    • The student demonstrates consistent poor academic performance in school or during in-person tutoring for a period of more than three weeks after the first 30 days of tutoring.

    • The student needs extra academic help to pass their next quiz, test, or exam in school.

    • The student has refused to be in the "Blue Classroom" twice a week as instructed and agreed to in the student application.

    • The student has missing assignments in the core subjects on PowerSchool being tutored in their academic program.

    • The student has a grade of less than 85% (Optional Invitation to Tutoring) or a grade less than a "C" (Mandatory Invitation to Tutoring) in a core subject being tutored after the first 30 days of tutoring.

    • The student is consistently refusing to complete practice work assigned or designed by the master tutor to pass their next quiz, test, or exam.

    • The student is consistently not making appointment requests for 1 on 1 online tutoring or in-person tutoring.

    • The student has not brought their textbook and folder to in-person tutoring.

    • The student has consistently not completed the assigned academic work given by the master tutor on their web page or sent to their email or parent's email.

    • No in-person academic tutoring sessions will be approved until the mandatory invitation to tutoring is complete.

    • "Mandatory" means the student must complete the requirements of the invitation to tutoring to remain in the Tutor Charlotte Program.

    • "Optional" means the parent and or student may accept or reject the invitation to tutoring.

    • The cost of each mandatory or optional "Invitation to Tutoring" is $20.00 which must be paid in cash at the beginning of the tutoring session or may be paid online $20.91 under any "Academic Program" on the Tutor Charlotte Website. Any completed invitation to tutoring without payment will result in the student password being immediately revoked until payment is made.

    • The parent will decide the duration of each invitation to tutoring, and the student may come late and leave early, but a minimum of 3 hours must be done.

    • The times for weekday invitations Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are as follows:

      • 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

    • The times for weekend invitations Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are as follows:

      • 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

      • 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

      • 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

      • 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

      • 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Permanent and Temporary Termination of Academic Tutoring and Supplemental Education

  • Tutor Charlotte reserves the right to cancel and or discontinue academic tutoring and supplemental education to a student for any of the following reasons:

    • Verbal or physical abuse of the master tutor online or during in-person tutoring will result in permanent termination of academic tutoring and supplemental education.

    • Verbal or physical abuse of another Tutor Charlotte student online or during in-person tutoring will result in permanent termination of academic services and educational services.

    • A student's refusal and or failure to comply and perform to the academic and behavior standards of Tutor Charlotte as directed by the master tutor can will result in the student being permanently or temporarily dropped from the subsidized academic tutoring program and supplemental education program.

    • Nonpayment of the monthly academic fees and any other assessed fees for academic tutoring and supplemental education on the payment due date will result in temporary termination of all academic services and supplemental education.

    • A student repeatedly missing approved online and or in-person tutoring sessions will be dropped from their program.

    • A student's and or parent's refusal to complete a mandatory invitation to tutoring will result in the student being dropped from their academic program when their tutoring expires.

    • The student has been absent from Tutor Charlotte for a period of 14 days or more will be dropped from their program and a student on the waiting list will be enrolled. You must request a 14 day hold on your student's account if you know your student is not going to do tutoring for a period of 14 days or more.
