## Tutor Charlotte's Summer Academic Learning Program 2019 is a very intensive 2 and 3-month academic regimen designed to help average and failing students get ahead in public school over the summer. We accept only 16 select students in the in-person tutoring summer program every year based on the student's academic needs, previous academic work, study habits, and behavior toward learning. We accept only 75 select students in the online tutoring summer program every year based on the student's academic needs, previous academic work, study habits, and behavior toward learning. New students are welcome to apply for a student slot in the Summer Academic Learning Program 2019.

## The master tutor, Dr. Kevin L. Powell, a mathematician and physicist, writer and master tutor, will teach your student the exact curriculum found in the North Carolina Curriculum for grades 4-12 and more. Your student will work at their own pace to comprehend concepts and subjects being taught in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. The class size of each session consists of 4 students and the master tutor for the in-person summer tutoring program. This small class size allows the master tutor to give your student individualized attention toward your student's learning needs. The master tutor will do continuous academic assessments of your student's academic progress in the summer program to ensure your student is learning and mastering the subjects and concepts.

## The class size of each online session consist of up to 25 students and the master tutor for the online summer tutoring program. The master tutor will do continuous academic assessments of your student's academic progress in the summer program to ensure your student is learning and mastering the subjects and concepts.

## Your student will be taught two or three subjects which covers the first semester of the North Carolina school year. Your student will do practice quizzes, tests, and exams in preparation for the new school year. A record will be kept to give to your student's school teachers as to what material your student has mastered over the summer.

## If accepted into the in-person summer program, students can sign up to attend at least two parts of the program, Part I, Part II, or Part III. Your student must complete at least two parts of the Summer Academic Learning Program 2019. Some parents and students choose to complete all three parts of the in-person summer program. Each part of the program last exactly three weeks where the student attends sessions three days per week. Each session last four hours with two 5 minute breaks and one 15 minute break.

## If accepted into the online summer program, students can sign up to attend at least two parts of the program, Part I, Part II, or Part III. Your student must complete at least two parts of the Summer Academic Learning Program 2019. Some parents and students choose to complete all three parts of the in-person summer program. Each part of the program last exactly three weeks where the student attends sessions four days per week. Each session last one hour per day and the online program is limited to one subject per student.

## Comprehensive Note taking (students are required to keep a notebook for the summer on everything taught and learned).

## These current students will be offered a student slot in Tutor Charlotte's Summer Academic Learning Program 2019 and upon registration will be tutored on "note taking, reading comprehension, and study skills 30 minutes per week beginning March 1, 2019." **Therefore, we are looking for 16 students for the in-person summer program and 75 students for the online summer program.**
