Tutor Charlotte offers specialized physics tutoring for grades 9–12 designed to build foundational knowledge of the laws of the universe. The program aligns with the North Carolina 2023 K-12 Science Standards (implemented for the 2024–2025 school year) and utilizes the Glencoe Science Physics: Principles and Problems curriculum to foster scientific literacy.

Curriculum Alignment: North Carolina Standards

The tutoring program covers the essential strands of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Physics, focusing on:

  • Forces and Motion: Analyzing systems of forces in one and two dimensions and applying Newton’s Laws of Motion to explain interactions.

  • Energy and Work: Quantitatively analyzing kinetic and potential energy and exploring the relationships between work, power, and energy.

  • Waves: Comparing mechanical and electromagnetic waves and using models to explain reflection and refraction.

  • Electricity and Magnetism: Evaluating the relationship between magnetic domains and electric currents.

Glencoe Science Textbook Integration

Using Glencoe Physics: Principles and Problems, tutoring sessions leverage a balanced approach between quantitative problem-solving and real-world application.

  • Conceptual Presentation: Relevant analogies and readable text help students visualize complex physics principles.

  • Problem-Solving Mastery: Example problems include coaching notes to guide students through forming strategies and checking the validity of their solutions.

Program Features

  • Personalized Instruction: Sessions are designed to move from immediate remedial support to proactive lesson planning, helping students stay ahead of their school curriculum. Live 1-on-1 sessions are available seven days a week with flexible scheduling to accommodate busy students that includes four weekly 60 minute tutoring sessions with lectures, comprehension quizzes, and exam preparation.
