Students now receive introductory lessons in Python programming and Visual Studio Code, teaching them to write, debug, and execute code in a professional development environment to solve complex mathematical equations, financial formulas (i.e. calculating a monthly mortgage or saving for retirement using compound interest formulas), and the use of Excel.

We are bridging the gap between abstract mathematical theory and practical technological application.

  • Python Programming Integration-Hands-On Python Coding.

High school students now receive foundational lessons in Python Programming. This addition bridges the gap between advanced mathematics and technological application, teaching students how to:

    • Automate Math & Logic: Students learn to use Python to solve complex algebra, calculus, and logic puzzles—making advanced math intuitive and powerful.

    • Master Core Concepts: They will grasp variables, loops, functions, and data structures within a professional developer environment (Visual Studio Code).

    • Solve Real-World Problems: We apply computational thinking to genuine challenges, preparing them for university engineering, data science, and computer science programs.

In New York State, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 are officially known as Regents Examinations in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II, respectively, and passing these exams with a score of 65 or higher is required for a standard Regents Diploma, with three passes needed for an Advanced Regents Diploma, aligning with the NYS Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards.

Algebra I Regents: The foundational high school math exam, covering linear equations, functions, and more.

  • Geometry Regents: Focuses on geometric concepts, proofs, and problem-solving.

  • Algebra II Regents: The third course in the sequence, building on Algebra I with more complex functions and advanced topics, often including Trigonometry.

  • Regents Diploma: Requires passing at least one math Regents exam (Algebra I, Geometry, or Algebra II).

  • Advanced Regents Diploma: Requires passing all three Regents exams (Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II).

The Tutor Charlotte Program II for the Algebra I curriculum for New York public high school students is fully aligned with the Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards. Our curriculum focuses on four conceptual categories that prepare students for the mandatory Algebra I Regents Examination.

The curriculum is organized into five primary modules that emphasize real-world applications and the use of graphing calculators:

  • Algebra (approx. 50% of curriculum): Includes seeing structure in expressions, performing operations with polynomials, creating equations to solve problems, and reasoning with equations and inequalities.

  • Functions (approx. 32% of curriculum): Covers interpreting and building functions, with a heavy focus on linear, quadratic, and exponential models.

  • Number & Quantity: Focuses on the properties of the real number system and the use of quantities to solve problems.

  • Statistics & Probability: Involves interpreting categorical and quantitative data, including scatter plots, trend lines, and measures of central tendency.

  • Modeling: Integrated throughout all topics, requiring students to apply mathematical concepts to complex, real-world scenarios.
