Why Choose Our Program?
Smoothing Grade Transition:
Stay Ahead: Introduces rising grade-level concepts so students start the new year ready, not "rusty".
Manage Expectations: Prepares students for the increased workloads and responsibilities of middle and high school.
Academic Rhythm: Maintains a consistent learning routine over the summer to reduce back-to-school anxiety and stress.
Remediation and Catching Up:
Close Gaps: Identifies and fills critical knowledge gaps in core subjects like Math, Science, and English Language Arts (ELA).
Combat "Summer Slide": Prevents the loss of up to two months of academic progress typically seen during summer breaks.
Intensive Support: Provides 28 to 30+ hours of tutoring per month to master difficult concepts from previous terms.
College Preparations and Admissions:
Advanced Skills: Offers rigorous instruction in advanced math (through Calculus) and high school sciences to strengthen college applications.
Test Readiness: Focuses on long-term preparation for high SAT/ACT scores and mastery of test-taking techniques.
New for 2026: Integrates Python programming and Tech Literacy to bridge the gap between theory and the practical skills needed in higher education.
Slow Learners Build Confidence and Life Skills:
Individualized Pace: One-on-one sessions allow students to learn without the pressure of a crowded classroom, fostering a sense of accomplishment.
Specialized Support: Offers tailored programs for students with learning challenges like ADHD/ADD to build academic stamina.
Essential Habits: Teaches life-long skills including time management, organization, and self-motivation to ensure long-term success.
Addressing Learning Gaps: Parents use our Summer I+II program to combat "summer slide"—the loss of roughly one to two months of academic progress over the break. They also use our Summer I+II program if a student failed a class and or needs to improve their academic skills in the subject before before taking the subject again in school.
Enrichment and Specialized Courses: Our Summer I+II program includes our New for 2026 – Tech Literacy-The Next Gen Advantage: In today's competitive landscape, strong math skills are just the baseline. To truly excel in STEM careers, students need computational literacy. Tutor Charlotte is proud to launch our revolutionary Tech Literacy Advantage programs integrating Python Programming and Visual Studio Code directly into our proven academic support structure.
Bridging the Gap: Math + Code = STEM Success! Is your student prepared for the AI-driven future?
Students now receive introductory lessons in Python programming and Visual Studio Code, teaching them to write, debug, and execute code in a professional development environment to solve complex mathematical equations, financial formulas (i.e. calculating a monthly mortgage or saving for retirement using compound interest formulas), and the use of Excel.
We are bridging the gap between abstract mathematical theory and practical technological application.
Python Programming Integration-Hands-On Python Coding.
High school students now receive foundational lessons in Python Programming. This addition bridges the gap between advanced mathematics and technological application, teaching students how to:
Automate Math & Logic: Students learn to use Python to solve complex algebra, calculus, and logic puzzles—making advanced math intuitive and powerful.
Master Core Concepts: They will grasp variables, loops, functions, and data structures within a professional developer environment (Visual Studio Code).
Solve Real-World Problems: We apply computational thinking to genuine challenges, preparing them for university engineering, data science, and computer science programs.
Flexibility and Convenience: Our Summer I+II program allows students to balance academics with family travel, summer jobs, or sports commitments. Families do not have to cancel vacations, as coursework can be completed from any location with internet access.
Self-Paced Learning: Unlike traditional classrooms, Summer I+II program offer live 1 on 1 instruction, allowing students to spend more time on challenging topics like math or breeze through subjects they have already mastered.
Safe and Controlled Environment: Middle school is a peak time for bullying; our Summer I+II program provides a safe haven from social pressures and peer distractions, allowing students to focus entirely on their studies.
Affordability: Our Summer I+II program is more cost-effective than in-person camps because we eliminate commuting costs and physical facility fees.
Digital Skill Development: Parents value the secondary benefit of students gaining independence, time management, and digital literacy skills essential for future high school and college success.
Enhanced Parental Involvement: Our Summer I+II program allows parents to act as "Learning Coaches," giving them a direct window into their child's progress and the ability to provide immediate support.

Compare our Tutor Charlotte flat price $250.00 a month for unlimited hours of tutoring to our competitor Huntington Learning Center. Their customer complained “They provide a diagnostic and then tell you they will need 80 sessions with your child, at $70-$85 per hour. I contracted for 20 sessions to see how it went before committing to more, then I was told they still need to "learn" my child. Ridiculous! My daughter was bored after 10 sessions, we stopped after 13 and I asked for a credit for the unused hours.”

During the tutoring session, we ask the student the following questions and tutor what the student needs:
1. Do you have any homework that I can help you with today?
2. Do you have a quiz, test, or exam this week I can help you prepare for?
3. Do you need a lesson on a particular concept your teacher taught that you did not understand?
4. What did your Language Arts teacher, math teacher, and or science teacher teach you today?
Question: Do I need a desktop computer for my student?
Yes, your student must have access to the internet, speakers on their computer, and I recommend access to a working printer to printout academic work. I recommend a desktop computer over Ipads and other devices.
Do you do academic assessments of your students?
Yes, my students do continuous academic assessments in math and English grammar to determine the student’s skills in the subject being tutored. The continuous academic assessment allows us to adjust your student’s academic tutoring to fit their needs.
Question: Do you tutor ELA?
After a careful assessment of the student’s English grammar skills, the student is taught by the master tutor, Dr. Kevin L. Powell, using the Glencoe Language Arts English Grammar and Composition Handbook with complete assessment questions in each chapter based on the reading level of the student. In addition, the student will begin studying and incorporating 5,014 SAT vocabulary words for reading comprehension. The student is continuously tested to measure their academic progress. How do you assess a student's current level? We do continuous assessments daily to determine the student’s skill level and gaps in knowledge, and we adjust each individual tutoring session to meet the students needs to get the academic results you want.
What kind of measurable results can I expect? One month of academic tutoring under the direction of Dr. Kevin L. Powell will result in a complete positive direction in your student’s math grades. For English Grammar, it will take approximately 90 days to see positive results because many students are several grade levels below the standards for reading comprehension and 6th Grade English Grammar.
